Friends, Romans, Props; lend me your ears!
We're at the halfway point of the season and we're still no closer to knowing who will make the four come the end of the regular season. What a cracker seaosn '22 has turned out to be!
MATCH OF THE ROUND
Power House vs Box Hill (Ref: Jason Breytenbach)
Last week saw Power House push Moorabbin all the way and grab a vital bonus point. As we say most weeks, House need to maintain consistency to really threaten the top teams and this week’s game against Box Hill could be pivotal to their season.
Box Hills defensive headaches continued against Unicorns last week and they really need to shore up their defence if they want to make a late run at the finals. This is a line in the sand game for both teams and could be a belter at Albert Park so tune in on the RV Facebook if you can’t get out to watch.
Power House to win by 8.
Harlequins vs Melbourne Uni (Ref: Shannon McLachlan)
Wow - did Quins make a statement last week or what!
After going down to Moorabbin by a point the previous week, Harlequins went to the nest and had feathers flying in a complete 80 minute demolition of the Eagles.
Quins executed perfectly and will look to continue that against a dangerous Uni outfit. The Trolls are again away from their bridge and will look to put their upset loss to the Doggies behind them and make amends this week.
They do seem to like playing against better structured teams so this game will suit their style. They need to win this to maintain in touch with the leaders.
Quins to again flex some muscle and win this by 12 points
Melbourne vs Endeavour (Ref: Darren O’Brien)
Melbourne finished off some great play last week in putting away a resilient Broncos outfit and know they are in for a big one this week when the severely wounded Eagles arrive at their door.
The Eagles know they need to find something from within this week if they want to take down the second placed Unicorns and get their top 2 hopes back on track.
These clashes are always fiery and Darren O’Brien will know he will have to keep his wits about him in controlling this game that will be played right on the edge. Whether he needs to go to his pocket to sort out the naughty boys could determine this game.
Melbourne to win in a battle by 5
Moorabbin vs Footscray (Ref: Andrew Schwilk)
Moorabbin will look to continue their charge for a top 2 spot after a solid win against House last week.
They know the doggies will have their tails wagging and will need to be weary but not go into their shell. Footscray caused a big upset last week and won their first Dewar shield game in over a thousand days.
Coach Roger Dodger and his whole team must be congratulated for their perseverance and their competitiveness this year. Let’s hope they carry their form and belief into the second half of the season and really set the competition alight.
This was a tight game in the first round and look for a repeat of that.
The Rams to butt heads but come out on top by 10 points
