The Quilt Program uses sport as a vehicle to prevent violence against women and children with the aim to ensure both are not only safe, but respected and treated as equals. The Quilt Program will support initiatives that address the drivers of gender inequality, reflecting Australia’s national framework – Change the Story - for the primary prevention of violence against women and children.
Sport can influence how society expects us to behave and can challenge the attitudes and behaviours that allow violence to occur. With the rollout of the program beginning for the year, Rugby Victoria and the Melbourne Rebels are committed to delivering the Quilt Program throughout 2023 and beyond.
Working in conjunction with clubs and schools statewide, our vision is to deliver the program to all metropolitan and regional clubs across Victoria across a two-year window. This will ensure as many participants as possible across Victoria understand the seriousness of domestic violence and the impact it has on families.
Rugby Victoria and the Melbourne Rebels need support to help this program and are seeking partners through both Government and corporate avenues to co-fund the expanded rollout of the program.
