On Thursday evening 28 November 2019 the Victorian Schools Rugby Union (VSRU) notified Rugby Victoria (RV) that St Patrick’s College decided to discontinue its rugby program in 2020.
RV is extremely disappointed and saddened to hear that St Patrick’s College is not continuing their Rugby program in 2020. Our thoughts first and foremost are with the students and parents involved in the Rugby program at St Patrick’s College.
RV remain committed to the development of the game across the State.
RV stand ready to support the Ballarat Rugby Community and St Patrick’s College Rugby community.
RV has directly contacted St Patrick’s College to offer our support to continue the Rugby program in 2020.
RV is working closely with the leadership of Ballarat Highlanders Rugby Club to ensure there is a pathway for students who wish to continue their Rugby in 2020. RV and Ballarat Highlanders Rugby Club are facilitating a roundtable meeting with key stakeholders this week to develop a strategy for students who wish to continue playing Rugby in 2020.
