Designed as a learning experience platform to foster connectivity across junior coaching ranks, Rugby Vic will be the first member union to offer SLOCOACH as a coaching tool for season 2024.

The pilot partnership will aim to elevate grassroots rugby across Victoria by ensuring every junior coach and player benefits from tailored digital coaching tools and resources.

This announcement comes as Rugby Australia and member unions nationwide band together to celebrate the time, effort and dedication put toward the continued growth of Rugby with Community Coaching Week from 7-13 April.

SLOCOACH Co-Founders Luke Jecks and Luke Holmes said SLOCOACH is built as a digital clubhouse, using technology to create engaging coaching experiences, beyond the boundaries of geography.

“SLOCOACH is an online platform empowering education through digital learning, placing functionality tools in the hands of the coach or expert to create a positive learning experience” the co-founders said.

“There is so much knowledge in the game of Rugby, so many people connected to the game that can bring forward learnings and we aim to empower more people to get involved.

“SLOCOACH will help foster conversations between coaches and players, leveraging Rugby Australia and Rugby Victoria’s resources to bring that vision to life.”

Each individual junior Rugby Victoria affiliate club will have their own unique SLOCOACH coaching hub managed by the Director of Rugby, with features including bespoke training programs, live meetings, video annotations and content courses.

Rugby Australia Head of Community Coaching Michael Magriplis said the opportunity to partner with SLOCOACH is key to continuing to drive junior rugby coaching excellence.

“Rugby Australia is excited to leverage SLOCOACH’s digital capabilities to further develop a comprehensive, feedback-driven approach to coach and player development across member states,” he said.

Rugby Vic Coach Education Manager Greg Fergus said the opportunity to be the first to pilot SLOCOACH will be a game-changer for Rugby throughout the state.

“The platform provided by SLOCOACH will provide accessibility, resources and connectivity to assist in starting coaching conversations within each club,” he said.

“We look forward to working with Rugby Australia and SLOCOACH to assist each affiliated junior Victorian Rugby club to empower directors in implementing this new technology.”

SLOCOACH intends to go live for Directors of Rugby across Rugby Vic affiliated junior clubs from 1 May, 2024.
