On behalf of the Victorian rugby community, Rugby Victoria offers our deepest condolences to the Lindroth family and honours the legacy left behind by a pioneer of Victorian Women’s Rugby.

A backbone of the first Victorian Women’s Rugby team founded in 1995, Rod Lindroth was appointed Team Manager with his son, Graham Lindroth chosen as the first Victorian Women’s team coach.

Rod’s passion, dedication and care for Victorian Rugby, in particular the Women’s game, is a testament to the character of a man who continued the legacy of his son and daughter-in-law – Graham and Jenny - with Victoria’s Premier Women’s Competition the Lindroth Cup named in their honour.

Rugby Victoria Acting CEO Shelley Nowlan expressed the condolences of the Victorian Rugby community.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of Rod’s passing and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Lyn. Rod was a kind and passionate rugby person, and we are incredibly grateful for his lasting contributions to the Victorian rugby community.

May his legacy continue to inspire generations of Lindroth Cup players for many years to come.
