The U14/U16 West Boys School 7s Rugby Gala Day was held at Power House Snr Rugby Club this week with 12 teams from 8 schools participating throughout the day.
We would like to congratulate all participating schools in what was an exciting day of rugby 7s. What was particularly pleasing was the participation of schools who in the past had been heavily involved in our Gala Days, we look forward to having them back on board.
Contesting the U14’s boy’s Grand Final were Sunshine College and Tarneit P-9 College. In a close Grand Final, Tarneit P-9 College proved too strong defeating Sunshine College 19-12. Well done to both teams who will progress through to the State Championships in September.
The teams who progressed to the U16’s boy’s Grand Final were The Grange and St Albans SC. In the end, The Grange demonstrated why they are so frequently considered favourites for these events, running out comfortable winners 26-0. With St Albans having a strong day after finishing top in their pool, they’ll have another chance to play The Grange with both teams progressing through to the State Championships, along with Melton SC who defeated Braybrook to take the final spot.

Big thanks must also go to Power House Snr Rugby Club, especially Bryan Furlong, who assisted with set-up/pack-down and ran a BBQ throughout the day.
