Our Victorian State Teams will head to Ballymore, Brisbane this week to take on opposing states for the title of 2023 Australian Rugby Shield Champions - here's all you need to know.

The Australian Rugby Shield will take place in Brisbane from Wednesday September 27 to Monday October 2 with 16 teams across both Men's and Women's competitions competing for their respective titles.

The Victorian Axemen will be looking to improve in 2023 and punch their ticket to the finals, while our Victorian State Women's team will be out to defend the inaugural 2022 Australian Rugby Shield Women's title and go back-to-back.

Speaking at the 2023 Rugby Victoria VAILO Awards Night, Alana Thomas Medal recipient for Lindroth Cup Player of the Year, Teuila Pritchard, said she is excited for the challenge.

"The opportunity to represent our clubs, community and state is a special opportunity," Pritchard said.

"There are new faces in our squad this year and we are looking forward to going up to Brisbane, building upon what we achieved in 2022 and defending our title."
