Victorian Junior Rugby Championship

RV Academy Huddle

Rugby Victoria are pleased to introduce the Victorian Junior Rugby Champoiship, an elite talent development program allowing our best talent in Victoria to train, develop, and play at the highest level in the state.

Starting in March 2026 and ending with competition games in the April school holidays our most talented boys and girls will have the opportunity to engage with elite coaching, skill development and game preparation over a 6 week program alongside other top talented players in Victoria.

Players will represent their regional academies and attend centralised, state-run development sessions at the Rugby Victoria centre of Excellence based at La Trobe University. All players from each region will undergo position specific skill training, technical and tactical rugby coaching as well as strength and conditioning training to develop their rugby ability. At the end of training block a team will be selected to represent each region in a round robin competition throughout the April school holidays to compete for the title of Victorian Junior Rugby Champion.

This program will also serve as the selection process for the Rugby Vic U17 state team, Victorian Schoolboys U18 team and Victorian Schoolgirls U16 and U18 7s teams. As well as a key talent identification avenue for the Super Rugby U16 team later in the year.
