Rugby Victoria would like to congratulate Moronae Silaga (Shepparton Rugby Union Club) and Milanetta Fuimaono (Endeavour Hills Rugby Club) on winning the Rugby Victoria Coach of the Month and Volunteer of the Month for August.
Both Milanetta and Moronae have been long term servants of their respective clubs with each having contributed to their clubs with more than a decade of service.
Milanetta was nominated by multiple people from Endeavour Hills and was recognised for her work in the canteen each weekend, her warm personality and smile. Milanetta goes “goes above and beyond for the club and gets to the club first on Saturdays and always the last to leave and is even there during the week. All the junior kids love her kind smile all the seniors know Mila as Mum”. Milanetta has been involved with Eagles since 1995 and has seen her children play at the club from juniors to seniors.
When asked about her award Milanetta said “she really appreciates the acknowledgement” and was extremely grateful for all the volunteers at Endeavour Hills.
Moronae was nominated for his attitude and dedication to the Junior & Senior programs at Shepparton Rugby Union Club. To support Rugby within the Shepparton region, Moronae currently delivers a school-based program to increase Rugby participation which has successfully transitioned 15 players to the club this season. Moronae is “mentor to our Juniors and the young men who have joined are finding him a safe place to grow in rugby and be able to learn how to be mindful, strong, polite and respectful young men”. Moronae is also the President of Shepparton Rugby Union Club and is the head Coach of the Victoria Country Men’s team this year.
When told about the award Moronae said “Thank you for the recognition, it really is something I do because I love the game and want our people who love it too to enjoy it.”
For winning the awards for August both Moronae and Milanetta will receive merchandise from the Wallabies and British and Irish Lions.
Rugby Victoria would like to thank all the nominated volunteers and coaches this season for their contribution to the Rugby Victoria Community. All nominees have been entered into the process for the Rugby Victoria Volunteer and Coach of the year Awards which will be presented at the Rugby Victoria Awards Night on September 7th at Belles Hotel.
